Booking Through Thursday (From Last Week)

Last week’s question:

What do you look for when reading a book blog? Does the blogger have to read the same genre? Do you like reviews? Personal posts? Memes? Giveaways? What attracts you to a book blog?

And–what are your favorite book blogs?

I tend to look for bloggers that are active and participate in some of the fun weekly memes rather than just review after review. I think the weekly memes out there are a lot of fun and I enjoy reading the various answers, even for those memes I don’t currently participate in. I also like seeing different challenges hosted by bloggers to make me feel like I can be a part of something, too.
I don’t care about the genres that my fellow book bloggers read, but I do enjoy subscribing to a bunch of different bloggers who read different genres. That way, my google reader is full of reviews all over the reading spectrum. But I suppose I prefer more eclectic genre tastes.
I think giveaways are fun, but that doesn’t make or break a book blog to me. I think giveaways make it harder to be a blogger because then you have to worry about who is following you for the free book chances or who really looks at what you have to say. I try to be a loyal follower and if I don’t comment, I DO read just about every book blog post in my reader and my email inbox.
I love personal posts and actually subscribe to a few blogs that aren’t just book blogs because I like the variety. One of the blogs I follow, Diary of a Domestic Goddess, does movie reviews that I enjoy reading.

Since I’m relatively new to book blogging, I don’t have a favorite blog. I think I enjoy the variety of different blogs each morning when I check every one out.
